Security & anti-theft

Live GPS position and movement tracking · geofence alerts (boat leaves a set area → alarm) · arm/disarm from the app · intrusion detection from onboard inputs: hatches, doors, motion · drive a siren or lights through switched outputs · onboard audio alarms and announcements. And if power is cut, the last-gasp alert over LoRa means going dark is itself an alarm.

Anchor watch

Set the anchor point and swing radius from the app. If the boat leaves the circle, the alarm repeats until a human acknowledges it. No single-ping-while-you-sleep. Works with the device’s own GPS: no chartplotter required.

Boat data, live (NMEA 2000)

Whatever your instruments measure, Roaming Shield reads and reports: battery voltage and current · depth · water and air temperature · wind · GPS position and speed · heading · attitude (yaw, pitch, roll). All of it streamed live to your phone aboard, or anywhere via the cloud.

Onboard motion sensing and temperature/humidity built into the device · plug-in temperature probes · analog inputs for senders · float switches and contacts on protected digital inputs. A simple boat gets real monitoring without an electronics refit.

Alerts on your terms

Every alert threshold is settable by you: voltage, temperature, depth, speed and more. Factory-fixed thresholds that trigger when it’s already too late aren’t alerting. Set “tell me if she does over 8 knots,” “wake me under 2 metres,” “warn me at 11.9 volts”. Your boat, your definitions of wrong.

Connectivity that fights to stay connected

Cellular for anywhere · Ethernet straight into the boat’s network, and if the boat has Wi-Fi, your phone talks to the device directly, no internet at all · LoRa long-range radio for off-grid anchorages, kilometre-class with a masthead antenna · the app connects direct to the device on the same network (it finds the boat itself) or through the cloud from anywhere · backup power reserve so a power cut becomes an alert, not silence · protection on every port: marine power is hostile, and the hardware assumes it.

A display for boats that don’t have one

Your phone or tablet shows live instrument data (depth, wind, battery, position) wherever the device can reach it. For boats without a chartplotter (or with it switched off at anchor), that’s a working instrument display for the cost of the phone in your pocket.

Data that admits its age

Every reading is timestamped at the source. The app shows how old each number is: “12.1 V, 4 seconds ago”, so stale data can never impersonate live data. On a product you’re trusting your boat to, we think that honesty is a feature.

Roaming Shield is on the water right now, in live testing aboard our first pilot boat. Launching in Australia first in 2027.
